What is Civic Addressing

The RM of Estevan is working with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency to assign a civic address to every occupied property in the municipality. A civic address assists emergency services find a rural property quickly and accurately when it matters most. In a life-threatening situation, seconds count — a clear civic address helps responders get to the right place fast.

Civic Addressing is not used for deliveries.

Your civic address sign

Each residential property gets a civic address sign to mark your access point. The RM provides:

  • Your initial sign
  • The post and hardware needed to mount it

Signs must be installed at your private access point, following The Provincial Highway Sign Control Standards under The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997. Installation specs and a diagram are included with your sign.

Before you dig

Please contact Sask 1st Call before digging to install your post. This checks for buried utility lines and keeps you safe. Contact information comes with your sign package.

Need help installing it?

If you're not able to put up the sign yourself, contact the Municipal Office and we'll arrange to help you.
